Podcast as a New Dialogue Space in Cultural Advancement

In recent years, podcasts have grown to become one of the most popular digital mediums among the public. Its flexible format, conversation-based nature, and accessibility at any time make podcasts a new space for obtaining information, knowledge, and entertainment. Over time, podcasts have evolved from being merely associated with light conversations to becoming a medium for discussing various important issues, including culture and history.

In light of this development, the Ministry of Culture views podcasts as a strategic opportunity to present culture in a more inclusive manner. Amid the challenges of cultural advancement in the digital era, innovation is needed so that cultural values, knowledge, and practices are not confined to academic spaces or archives but also present in broader public conversations. It is from this need that the Kulturasi Podcast was born.

The Kulturasi Podcast is a podcast program by the Ministry of Culture designed as a cultural dialogue space. Based on the idea that every history will always be strengthened by narratives, the Kulturasi Podcast presents relaxed yet substantial conversations. Various issues are raised, ranging from music and the creative ecosystem, food security, the role of women in culture, to the preservation of traditions and historical sites.

One episode that garnered significant public attention features Dr. Ali Akbar, an archaeologist from the University of Indonesia, discussing the Gunung Padang Site. Various discourses regarding the age of the site, the structure of the buildings, and narratives that do not always rely on scientific studies often spark debates about Gunung Padang. The popularity of this issue reflects the public's great curiosity about the history of Indonesian civilization while also highlighting the importance of delivering accurate and responsible information. This approach showcases the role of podcasts as an educational medium that not only satisfies curiosity but also helps the public understand the context of knowledge behind widely discussed issues.

Produced and published since October, the Kulturasi Podcast has so far presented 12 episodes in video podcast format that can be accessed through the YouTube channel Indonesiana.TV and the Ministry of Culture. The presence of this podcast is part of efforts to expand the reach of cultural advancement, especially through a medium that is close to the younger generation and the broader community.

In the digital era, media not only serves as a means of documentation but also as a space for knowledge production and idea exchange. Ultimately, culture will continue to thrive as long as it is discussed, understood, and interpreted together.
