Enhancing Competence in the Use of Documentation and Publication Equipment, Employees of the Cultural Media Center

In every activity or event, whether small or large scale, documentation and publication play a very important role. These two aspects are not merely complements, but integral parts of the success of the event itself. Both have a strategic role in maintaining accountability, transparency, and enhancing a positive image in the eyes of the public.

Documentation serves as a visual and written record of all the activities carried out. Through photos, videos, and activity reports, organizers have tangible evidence that the activities were indeed carried out as planned. Documentation is also useful as an organizational archive, which can be used as material for evaluation, reference, or inspiration for future activities. Additionally, well-organized documentation can serve as accountability evidence to the public.

Recognizing the importance of these supporting aspects of event implementation, the Cultural Media Center organized a Competence Enhancement Activity for Employees in the Use of Documentation and Publication Equipment held at the Aston Hotel and Convention Hall in Cirebon from Friday, October 31 to Saturday, November 1, 2025. This event was opened by a representative from the personnel department, Mahdi Shiddieqy Setatama, S.M., and participants subsequently received material presentations from the senior producer of the Indonesiana.TV program at the Cultural Media Center, Mr. Moriza Prananda and Mr. Kusdaryanto.

In the presentation, participants were explained about good image composition in a photo, types of angles, that a photo, like a work of art, has no good or bad photos, but a photo must have meaning, a message, and a reason why a moment is captured in a photo. – a picture tells a thousand words.

Participants were then divided into three groups. Each group practiced operating the camera, starting with taking the camera out of storage, turning it on, familiarizing themselves with the buttons and features, taking pictures in automatic mode/settings, attaching and using lenses, and finally storing the camera back in its place.

The results of the documentation are the main materials for publication products. Publication plays an important role in disseminating information about activities to a wider audience. With good publication through social media, websites, and mass media, the public can learn about the goals, benefits, and achievements of the activities. Publication also enhances the positive image of the organizing institution or organization, strengthening the image and form of accountability of the organization to the public and society.
