Ministry of Culture Launches Cultural Funding Scheme 2026 Worth IDR 500 Billion

The Ministry of Culture officially relaunched the cultural funding program IndonesiaRaya Fund 2026 on Thursday, April 2, 2026. This launch marks the transformation of the IndonesiaRaya Fund program, which has been one of the instruments of state support for cultural practitioners in Indonesia.

Through this program, the government has prepared a budget of IDR 500 billion sourced from the management of the Cultural Endowment Fund to support various activities for the preservation, development, and advancement of culture in Indonesia. The fund can be accessed by individuals, communities, or organizations that have cultural activity initiatives in various regions.

Expanding Access for Cultural Practitioners

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that the IndonesiaRaya Fund program is designed to expand funding access for cultural practitioners while strengthening the national cultural ecosystem. He explained that this program does not limit certain types of cultural objects. Various activities, ranging from performing arts, traditions, to community-based activities can be proposed as long as they have a real impact on the advancement of culture and society.

“Our priority remains on the protection, preservation, development, and utilization of culture. The most important thing is its impact on society,” said Fadli Zon.

In addition, the government is also working to expand the reach of program beneficiaries so that it is not only concentrated in certain areas. So far, beneficiaries have been dominated by communities in Java, Sumatra, and Bali, thus in the future, the government encourages broader participation from Eastern Indonesia.

Beneficiary Trends Continue to Increase

The utilization program of the Cultural Endowment Fund has shown significant increases in recent years. In 2024, there were 346 beneficiaries, while in 2025 that number surged to 2,117 beneficiaries with a total funding of IDR 141.7 billion.

Cumulatively, as of March 31, 2026, this program has disbursed approximately IDR 594 billion to 3,036 beneficiaries from various regions in Indonesia. This achievement indicates an increasing interest and participation of cultural practitioners in utilizing this funding scheme. For 2026, the government allocates the management results of the Cultural Endowment Fund amounting to IDR 500 billion to support various cultural advancement activities.

Four Main Funding Schemes

The IndonesiaRaya Fund 2026 has four main funding schemes designed to expand the space for creativity and participation of cultural practitioners. These schemes include facilitation in the cultural field for communities and cultural practitioners, production of cultural activities, media production, and other strategic cultural programs. Additionally, the utilization of funds also covers 12 categories of activities, including strengthening the cultural ecosystem and supporting the sustainability of Indonesia's Intangible Cultural Heritage recognized by UNESCO. The selection of beneficiaries is conducted through a jury mechanism by experts in their fields to ensure that each proposal is assessed objectively, transparently, and accountably.

Strengthening the National Cultural Ecosystem

The launch of the IndonesiaRaya Fund 2026 is part of the government's efforts to implement the mandate of the 1945 Constitution Article 32 Paragraph (1) and Law Number 5 of 2017 on Cultural Advancement, which emphasizes the importance of the state's role in protecting and developing national culture.

In the future, the Ministry of Culture also aims to improve the quality of program services through the development of technology-based systems so that the registration process to reporting becomes more transparent, accountable, and easily accessible to cultural practitioners throughout Indonesia.

With increasing funding support and continuously improved governance, the IndonesiaRaya Fund is expected to become a driving force for the emergence of various creative, inclusive, and sustainable cultural initiatives, while also strengthening the position of culture as an important foundation for national development.
