The Cultural Media Center—celebrating and enlivening National Culture Day, which falls on October 17—held the “Indonesiana.TV Film Week.” The Indonesiana.TV Film Week took place in five cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya from October 14 to 17, 2025.

Participants attending the events in each city varied, ranging from 110 to 153 people representing various elements of society, including film industry professionals, cultural communities, teachers, middle and high school students, academics, and university students from fields of art, culture, visual communication design, film, and animation. Also present were representatives from government agencies, such as the Cultural Preservation Center (BPK) of the relevant regions and departments related to education and culture.

Four outstanding short films were screened during this event: Ada Hantu di Menara Merdu, Wingkang Ranu, Kwartet: Gupala Sang Jagawana, and Gin Swa. The audience's enthusiasm was high, as was the response after the screenings.

Bridging to the Community

Without denying the development of digital technology that can deliver content more intimately to users, conventional methods of bringing cultural content from Indonesiana.TV should still be taken seriously. This includes through conventional media such as cinema.

Watching together in a cinema creates a unique sensation. It fosters a space for discussion, sharing expressions without barriers, creating shared memories, and, of course, sharing inspiration that can be conveyed unconsciously.

Watching together at the “Indonesiana.TV Film Week” can also be seen as a meeting place for elements of the film ecosystem. The government as policymakers, cultural communities as sources of data and inspiration for filmmakers in producing culturally valuable films, and of course, the presence of teachers and students as important elements who will respond to a viewing to take further action in other forms.

Becoming a Space for Appreciation

The “Indonesiana.TV Film Week” also serves as a space for appreciation from various parties to jointly sow the spirit and spread the hope that through film, the implementation of cultural advancement yields tangible results. We believe that film is one of the right media to document the journey of the nation. All sectors of life are recorded and conveyed back to the community.

Film, as a record of the nation's civilization that is documented and visualized again, is a contribution to the life and journey of the Indonesian nation. Tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including the dynamics of contemporary society, represents the latest record of our culture.

Through film, filmmakers become a bridge connecting generations. Through their integrity and vision, filmmakers attempt to translate the realities and facts of everyday life into a form that can be enjoyed and learned from by future generations who watch it again.

The passion and determination of filmmakers when transforming real life into another form require extraordinary creativity and effort. Maintaining the essence and spirit of film, even as the medium changes, will result in a work that represents its time to be conveyed to future generations.

How can life in the past be felt by future generations? Making a film is not just about recording scenes and dialogues but also sharing the spirit of the era of that generation. A reliable production team can cleverly transfer the spirit of a generation to be showcased to another generation. We, bound by the same culture, will see commonalities in spirit even though we have been separated by generations. All of this is due to the recording of life manifested in a film.

Through film, we learn about culture not just through a narrow perspective that limits culture to mere entertainment and guidance. Nowadays, film also acts and is positioned as a tool for diplomacy, not only of culture but further, as a nation’s diplomacy. Indonesiana.TV through the “Indonesiana.TV Film Week” aims to stimulate all elements to continue creating and presenting quality films to strengthen the same spirit in every generation. The spirit of building the nation through film, because in the hands of the younger generation as the spearhead, the progress of the nation is at stake.
