Cultural Innovation of the Ministry of Education and Culture Wins Two Awards at IDEAWARD 2024

JAKARTA – The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) has achieved remarkable success by winning two prestigious awards at the IDEAWARD 2024 event. These awards are a form of appreciation for the creative breakthroughs that have successfully promoted cultural advancement while strengthening the involvement of local communities in Indonesia.

The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, received the Creative Award for Local Heritage and Tourism. This award was given for his success in integrating the Merdeka Belajar program with the transformation of museums and cultural heritage sites into inclusive and open learning spaces for the wider community. This initiative not only promotes the concept of lifelong learning but also represents an important step in advocating for the return of historical and cultural artifacts of Indonesia that has been ongoing since 2021.

In addition, the Director General of Culture, Hilmar Farid, also received the Creative Award for Community Engagement and Collaboration. This award recognizes his innovative bottom-up approach to cultural management. Hilmar is credited with successfully developing a cross-community collaboration model, creating a creative dialogue between local wisdom and global challenges. He also played a key role in the enactment of the Cultural Advancement Law Number 5 of 2017, which serves as the national policy framework for the preservation and development of culture in Indonesia.

"This award is the result of collective hard work, from cultural communities to local governments. We are proud that the steps taken have empowered the community to continue to create and advance Indonesian culture," said Hilmar after receiving the award.
