The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea are collaborating to strengthen the capacity of Indonesian creative talents on a global scale through the House of Indonesiana (HOI) program. This program provides training in animation, documentary filmmaking, mobile content, as well as arts and culture education in 6 cities. Two of them are already underway: animation training in Jakarta and documentary training in Makassar.

The highlight, House of Indonesiana (HOI) Week 2025, is held as a form of appreciation and a tangible proof of cross-country collaboration through the power of culture. The event, taking place on October 15-16 at the Main Atrium 360 KOREA 360, Lotte Mall Jakarta, showcases the works of HOI training participants from Jakarta and Makassar. At the same time, a new training center will also be introduced, which will be established in Cirebon, Jambi, Badung, and Sikka.

The HOI program has involved 480 participants in Jakarta, producing eight episodes of animation, and 1,545 participants in Makassar, who have produced one documentary film.

Results of Indonesia-South Korea Collaboration

HOI is originally a program resulting from the collaboration between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. This strategic program focuses on intensive training for young people in creatively and innovatively producing digital content.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo emphasized that HOI Week 2025 reflects the collaborative spirit between the two nations, both of which uphold art, culture, and creativity.

"This event symbolizes the harmony between two countries—Indonesia and South Korea—both of which love art, culture, and creativity," said Deputy Minister Giring on Wednesday (October 15).

According to him, South Korea has proven that culture can be an economic force as well as an effective means of diplomacy. This experience will inspire Indonesia, which also has an extraordinary cultural wealth.

"We are grateful that Korea is willing to share its experience in building a robust, innovative, and technology-based creative industry and collaboration. We also see how South Korea expands its global cultural network. This is the spirit we want to cultivate to grow more Indonesian creative talents through the House of Indonesiana program," Giring stated.

He also emphasized that the true strength of Indonesian culture lies in its communities—from small groups in villages, art studios in cities, to digital spaces where the younger generation creates.

"We also hope that House of Indonesiana and various other programs from the Ministry of Culture continue to focus on empowering communities and local talents," said Deputy Minister Mas.

Through the House of Indonesiana Week 2025, the Ministry of Culture aims to prepare a creative Indonesian generation that can become an important part of the global cultural network.

Meanwhile, at the same event, the Deputy Ambassador of South Korea to Indonesia, Park Soo Deok, stated that HOI Week 2025 is a tangible manifestation of valuable cooperation between the two countries, Indonesia and South Korea.

"It is an honor for me to be present at this year's House of Indonesiana Week. This program is a concrete proof of the close relationship between Korea and Indonesia in developing a creative ecosystem and promoting cultural collaboration," he said.

Park added that this activity not only showcases the technical skills and creativity of the participants but also demonstrates the spirit of cross-cultural collaboration that is at the core of this project.

"We hope this series of activities opens broader opportunities for young Indonesian creators to participate and continue to grow," he concluded.

Can Go Far

The hope is that this collaboration does not stop at the level of training and cultural meetings. Furthermore, the HOI event is expected to generate new ideas that are "fresh" and relevant to the times. Thus, the works of Indonesian children in animation and other creative fields can develop and be absorbed by the industry, not only domestically but also internationally. These young talents can be opened up to opportunities and collaboration in their creations.

Still within the same series of activities, HOI Week also features an exhibition of works, awards for training participants, and discussions that are expected to be an inspiring space for creators.

In this event, Indonesiana.TV enlivened the HOI Week 2025 with a unique experience at the live streaming booth, discussions about content production, a workshop on animated puppetry "Desa Timun" from Aniwayang, immersive screenings, and the distribution of souvenirs. Later, the film productions from this program will also be aired on the Indonesiana.TV platform. So, stay tuned for the broadcast! (*)
