The Film 'Tulang Belulang Tulang' Releases Teaser Trailer, Missing Bones Cause a Stir in the Batak Family's Mangokal Holi Ceremony

Jakarta - The film 'Tulang Belulang Tulang' directed by Sammaria Sari Simanjuntak, presented by Adhya Pictures in collaboration with production house Pomp Films and supported by the Directorate of Film, Music, and Media of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology – which is the result of incubation from the Indonesiana Film program 2021, has released its latest teaser trailer today. In the teaser trailer, a narrator's voice recounts the family's story as they prepare for the traditional mangokal holi ceremony. This ceremony involves the transfer of ancestral bones to the customary land, which is a point of pride for Batak families who can perform it.

The bones of the Tulang Tua (Great Grandfather), who serves as the narrator in the teaser trailer, are carried in a suitcase by Mami Laterina's family (Atiqah Hasiholan) as they fly from Bandung to Lake Toba. However, Mami Laterina's family loses the suitcase. The entire family is forced to search for it until they find it. This is a sign of disaster that will disrupt the festive celebration when Opung is distributing money to honor the guests.

“If everything goes smoothly, we have no story!” says the Tulang Tua, who serves as the narrator.

The teaser trailer showcases the natural beauty of Lake Toba, which will be a visual treat for the audience. Additionally, the humor of Mami Laterina's family will accompany them on their journey to find the bones of the Tulang Tua.

“The film 'Tulang Belulang Tulang' tells the story of a Batak family road trip comedy that will conduct the Mangokal Holi ceremony. This family travels from Bandung to their ancestral land in Toba. However, along the way, the bones go missing. Meanwhile, a grand celebration has already been prepared in the village around Lake Toba. The preparations for this ceremony have been long in the making, with Opung saving for 25 years. “So, when the bones go missing, rather than the family being cursed by Opung, it’s better for them to disappear,” said Sammaria Sari Simanjuntak regarding the film 'Tulang Belulang Tulang.'

“The film 'Tulang Belulang Tulang' stars Atiqah Hasiholan (Mami Laterina), Tanta Ginting (Tulang Ucok), Tasha Siahaan (Cian), David Saragih (Papi Mondo), Cornel Nadeak (Alon), Lina ‘Mak Gondut’ Marpaung (Opung Tiolin), and Landung Simatupang (Tulang Tua). All of these actors coincidentally have roots from North Sumatra. The film 'Tulang Belulang Tulang' will be coming to theaters this year.
