The advancement of culture as mandated in Article 4 of Law Number 5 of 2017 on Cultural Advancement has one of its main objectives, which is to enlighten the life of the nation. In the midst of the media convergence era, the pattern of information consumption among the public is increasingly shifting to the digital realm. In response to this challenge, the Cultural Media Center continues to commit to digitizing cultural advancement objects and developing digital cultural content that can be widely accessed by the Indonesian public.

As an institution that produces and acquires digital cultural content, the Cultural Media Center consistently presents material that is educational, informative, and inspirational. This effort is reinforced through the development of the Indonesiana TV Cultural Channel, which serves as a distribution center for digital cultural content for the public.

The content aired on Indonesiana TV not only comes from the internal production of the Cultural Media Center but also from acquisitions and grants from external parties. One of them comes from the House of Indonesiana program, a collaborative project between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of South Korea, aimed at enhancing the capacity of Indonesian professionals in various fields of the creative industry, particularly film, animation, and documentaries.

From this series of training, two debut works will soon be available on the Indonesiana TV application, namely the animated film “Banyu” and the documentary film “Octopus Hunter”. Before their official release in 2026, these two works were introduced to the public through a Film Screening event of the House of Indonesiana held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at XXI Plaza Senayan, Jakarta.

The Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo, S.I.Kom, in his speech emphasized that the House of Indonesiana serves as a medium for preserving Indonesian stories through cinema. According to him, Indonesia has an extraordinary wealth of narratives that need to be passed down with a relevant approach for the current generation.

“We have so many storytelling strengths, passed down from our ancestors. Our goal in studying animation and documentaries is to ensure that these stories remain eternal and are easily understood by the current generation,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Director of Film, Music, and Arts, Syaifullah Agam, Ph.D., expressed appreciation for the full support of the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) of South Korea and the enthusiasm of the young talents participating in the House of Indonesiana training. He views this program as a tangible proof of the spirit of creative collaboration in advancing the national film industry.

Appreciation was also conveyed by the Director of the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Mr. Lee, who noted that the cultural collaboration between Indonesia and Korea is increasingly showing positive and sustainable results.

“I hope the screenings of Banyu and Octopus Hunter today will mark an important milestone in strengthening cultural cooperation between Korea and Indonesia,” said Mr. Lee.

This screening event was attended by 192 participants, consisting of internal representatives from the Ministry of Culture, KOCCA, Iconix, students, and participants of the House of Indonesiana training. In addition to the film screening, the event was also complemented by a discussion session with representatives from Iconix Korea, Dipadira studio, representatives from the trainees, and the Cultural Media Center to discuss the creative process, training experiences, and future collaboration opportunities.

The films screened included four episodes of the animated “Banyu” with a total duration of 24 minutes, as well as the documentary “Octopus Hunter” with a duration of 30 minutes. Through this activity, the Cultural Media Center hopes to expand public access to quality cultural content, encourage the emergence of globally competitive creative talents, and strengthen the role of Indonesiana TV as a cultural platform that bridges cultural practitioners and the wider community in the effort to sustainably advance Indonesian culture.
