Cultural Media Center Hosts a Movie Screening of Museum and Cultural Heritage Exploration in Four Museums in Indonesia
In an effort to expand public access to knowledge and cultural information, the Cultural Media Center (BMK) of the Ministry of Culture organized a Movie Screening event featuring the program Exploration of Museums and Cultural Heritage produced in 2025. This event is part of the utilization and dissemination of digital cultural content produced by BMK through the Indonesiana TV platform.
Cultural advancement as mandated by Law Number 5 of 2017 on Cultural Advancement aims, among other things, to educate the nation's life. Amid the development of technology and the changing patterns of public information consumption that are increasingly digital, BMK continues to strive to present various cultural content that not only entertains but also provides insights and knowledge to the wider community.

Through the Indonesiana TV Cultural Channel, various cultural content produced or acquired by BMK can be accessed by the public as a means of learning, appreciation, and reflection on the richness of Indonesian culture. One of the programs that will be available in 2025 is Exploration of Museums and Cultural Heritage, which invites viewers to explore various museums, historical sites, and cultural relics that are an important part of the archipelago's civilization journey.
As a form of utilizing the production results, BMK held movie screening events in four museums under the Ministry of Culture. The activities began at the Song Terus Museum in Pacitan on June 18, 2026, followed by the Semedo Museum in Tegal on June 24, 2026, the Sangiran Museum in Karanganyar on July 15, 2026, and concluded at the Vredeburg Fort Museum in Yogyakarta on July 22, 2026.

Each event was attended by around 60–100 participants consisting of students, university students, teachers, academics, history communities, film communities, and the general public. This movie screening was packaged as an enjoyable learning experience. In addition to the film screening, participants were also invited to take museum tours to learn about the collections, history, and cultural values stored in each museum. This series of activities provided a deeper learning experience as participants not only viewed the collections directly but also gained a richer understanding through audiovisual presentations.
The films screened were tailored to the character and collections of each museum. At the Song Terus Museum, participants watched the film Traces of Ancient Java: Guardians of Memory at the Song Terus Museum, which highlighted the role of the Song Terus Museum in preserving the oldest prehistoric human finds in Southeast Asia as part of Indonesia's cultural heritage. Meanwhile, at the Semedo Museum, the film Traces of Ancient Java: Semedo, Fragments of Ancient Life in Java was screened, telling the story of the discovery of ancient fossils in Semedo and the role of the local community in preserving and passing on history to future generations.

The event at the Sangiran Museum featured the film Children of Sapiens, which invites viewers to follow the adventure of two children uncovering prehistoric traces while also recognizing the role of the community as guardians of cultural heritage. At the Vredeburg Fort Museum, participants were invited to explore the history and culture of Yogyakarta through the journey of Adhin and Lena at the Vredeburg Fort in the film Exploration of the Forts of the Archipelago: Vredeburg.
Through this activity, BMK hopes to enhance public appreciation for films and audiovisual content themed around culture, history, and the social life of the Indonesian people. Additionally, this activity serves as a means to foster cultural awareness, strengthen national identity, and encourage the community, especially the younger generation, to better understand and love museums and cultural heritage as a legacy that must be preserved together.
This activity also serves as a momentum to introduce Indonesiana TV as a digital cultural channel that the public can utilize to access various Indonesian cultural content anytime and anywhere. Thus, the cultural values contained in museums and cultural heritage can continue to be passed down to current and future generations.
