Animation Ako & Sea Celebrates World Mangrove Day on the Coast of Subang

SUBANG - The Great Teacher Movement Center (BBGP) launched the Kareta Sobat Nganjang Ka Pesisir Subang. The launch of Kareta Sobat was held with a series of educational activities in the Coastal Village of Mayangan, Legon Kulon District, Subang Regency, West Java on July 25 - 26, 2024.

Kareta Sobat, a vehicle designed as a learning tool in areas that are difficult to reach by regular transportation.

The Head of the Cultural Media Center, Retno Raswaty, expressed her hopes for Kareta Sobat to enhance access to education across all regions.

"We hope to improve access to education in remote areas and help communities understand the importance of literacy, especially in coastal regions," she said in her opening speech at Kareta Sobat Ka Pesisir Subang on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

According to her, efforts to support the cultural literacy movement are also encouraged by the formation of Wiwara content that presents various cultural materials through the platform Indonesiana.TV, which serves as a supplementary learning module.

Animation Film Ako & Sea Also Enlivens the Kareta Sobat Event

The animated series Ako and Sea participated in celebrating World Mangrove Day during the Kareta Sobat Nganjang Ka Pesisir Subang event. Utilizing film literacy and the existing Wiwara module on the Indonesiana.TV platform, elementary and junior high school students were invited to engage in various educational activities such as painting, group discussions, and learning about Mangrove Forests.

The Subang Regional Education Movement Community Team (KPPD), represented by Sarah Ningsih Nurhasanah, also supports the use of animation as a learning media. "I also implement this learning media in schools because it can make the learning process more interesting and effective," she said.

Meanwhile, a representative teacher from SD 01 Sakti Mulya Legon Kulon, Subang, West Java, Tatang Mulyana, expressed the challenge of creating interactive learning. According to him, many children find it difficult to focus on learning. Therefore, he continued, children need not only theory but also practice taught by communicative and interactive teachers, such as storytelling and showing animated films.

"Children need something real. For example, storytelling should be supported by visual, audio, and gesture elements from the teacher. Animated film media can also help children gain comprehensive knowledge," he revealed.

Through the animated show Ako & Sea, a mother of a child who attended the Ako & Sea animation viewing event, Wati, expressed her gratitude for the Kareta Sobat Nganjang Ka Pesisir Subang activities. She believes that the children present, including the parents, could gain inspiration in teaching education to their children. "I am very happy because the children look joyful. I hope this activity is beneficial for them," she said.

The Kareta Sobat: Nganjang Ka Pesisir Subang event successfully provided an engaging and interactive educational experience for elementary and junior high school students in coastal areas. Through the use of animated film media and the WIWARA module, this activity successfully enhanced environmental understanding and awareness while honing digital literacy skills among the participants.
